Canvas is where Art Meets Life.
Canvas is an online Arts Platform and the first Art Community on YouTube. It is a new project sponsored by the Art Council of England, aimed to help engage the younger generation into the world of arts.
Canvas feature artists, performers and organisations across England, bringing their incredible work to the attention of younger audiences, by actively commissioning performance films and and making that content more discoverable and engaging online. Whether it's spoken word poetry, experimental music, physical theatre or contemporary dance. Canvas covers events and performances that address the issues that matter to young people.
To increase the volume and quality of their creative media, Canvas needed a complete visual refresh and I was commissioned to re-brand their identity and delivering a brand vision for future applications.
Because Canvas covers arts of different nature, they needed the new identity to transform in ways that can be translated through a variety of different mediums and cover a range of completely different styles of title screens for each video, while maintaining a clear sense of identity throughout.
My response to this challenge was to create a structure where the brand has flexibility to change, always remaining fun and playful - making sure it reflects the diverse and young feel of the audience. While also having space that never changes and has a strong signature look.
